“Tarım her şeydir. Çünkü üretim, bir milletin en sessiz ama en güçlü manifestosudur.”

Ben Ankara’nın küçük bir köyünde, çiftçi bir ailenin çocuğu olarak dünyaya geldim. Toprağın kokusunu, emeğin anlamını, bereketin değerini çocuk yaşta öğrendim. Belki de o günlerde farkında olmadan hayatımın merkezine üretimi yerleştirdim. Bugün hâlâ inanıyorum ki; tarım sadece bir üretim biçimi değil, medeniyetin varoluş biçimidir.

Eğitimimi tamamladıktan sonra meslek hayatıma TRT’de bir tarım programında kamera arkasında başladım. O yıllarda üreticilerin hikâyelerini dinledikçe, sadece anlatmanın yeterli olmadığını hissettim. Bu hikâyelerin değişmesine, tarımın yeniden düşünülmesine katkı sunmak istedim.

Bu arayış beni ODTÜ Teknokent’te mühendislik projelerine, oradan da Türkiye genelinde tarımsal sulama kooperatiflerine taşıdı. Sahada gördüm ki, tarımsal üretimi ve suyu yönetemeyen bir ülke, geleceğini de yönetemez. Bu farkındalıkla su yönetimi, yenilenebilir enerji, akıllı tarım ve üretim üzerine birçok projede görev aldım.

2009 yılında Tarım Federasyonu Genel Başkanı seçildiğimde, tarımın yönünü değiştirmek için yeni bir bakış açısına ihtiyaç olduğunu biliyordum. Benim için tarımsal kalkınmanın temeli, üretimden önce pazarı kurabilmekti. Çünkü çiftçiyi güçlü kılan yalnızca ürün değil, o ürünün doğru şekilde değerlendirilmesidir. Bu düşünceden hareketle “önce pazar, sonra üretim” anlayışını benimsedik. Üreticinin alın terini emeğe, emeği markaya, markayı da sürdürülebilir bir sisteme dönüştürmeyi hedefledik. Bu süreçte, Anadolu Ticaret ve Lojistik Merkezleri kurduk, Afrika’da çiftçi eğitim merkezleri oluşturduk, üretici çalıştayları düzenledik ve belediyelerle kırsal kalkınma projeleri yürüttük. Tarımı sadece ekonomik bir faaliyet olmaktan çıkarıp, sosyal ve stratejik bir sistem haline getirmeye çalıştık.

2012 yılında kurduğumuz Uluslararası Tarım ve Gıda Konfederasyonu (TARIMKON), bugün 81 ilde, 650 ilçede ve 60 ülkede örgütlenmiş, alanındaki dünyanın en büyük ağlarından biri haline geldi. Bu büyük yapıda yüzlerce sivil toplum kuruluşu ve milyonlarca üretici aynı hedef etrafında birleşti: Dil, din, ırk gözetmeden adil, sürdürülebilir ve bilinçli üretim.

Biz sadece üretimle ilgilenmedik; tarım diplomasisi, gıda güvenliği ve yeşil ekonomi konularında da sorumluluk aldık. Çünkü tarım artık sadece tarlada değil, diplomasi masasında, enerji stratejisinde ve toplum bilincinde var olması gereken bir sistemdir.

2017’de Avrupa Ekonomik Senatörlüğü’ne seçilen ilk Türk olma onurunu yaşadım. Bu görev bana, tarımın artık yerel bir mesele değil, küresel bir sorumluluk olduğunu bir kez daha hatırlattı.

2022’de Nijerya’da sekiz yıl süren çalışmalar sonunda ülkenin ilk “Çiftçi Sürekli Eğitim Merkezi”ni kurduk. Orada bana gösterilen sevgi ve takdir, “Fahri Kral (Chef)” unvanı ile onurlandırılmama vesile oldu.Ama benim için asıl anlamlı olan, toprağın emeğiyle bir ülkenin geleceğine dokunabilmiş olmaktı.

Tarım evrenseldir.

Benim için tarım, sadece kendi ülkemin değil, tüm insanlığın ortak meselesidir. Çünkü bir ülkenin üretim sorunu, er ya da geç diğerine de ulaşır. Sadece senin iyi olman yetmez, dünyanın üretimi zayıfladığında, hepimiz kaybederiz. Bu yüzden biz, öncelikle Anadolu’dan başlayarak, tüm dünyanın çiftçisine, üreticisine, toprağına dokunan bir yapı kurduk. Bugün TARIMKON yalnızca Türkiye’de değil, onlarca ülkede üreticilerin sesi, emeğin dayanışma ağı haline geldi. Çünkü inanıyorum ki, tarımsal üretim bir devletin değil, insanlığın ortak sorumluluğudur.

“Tarım bir sektör değil, bir sistemdir.”

Benim için tarım, ekonominin değil, yaşamın altyapısıdır. Bir tohumun filizlenmesi sadece bir bitkinin değil, bir toplumun geleceğinin büyümesidir. Bu nedenle “Tarım Her Şeydir” ifadesi benim için bir slogan değil, bir farkındalık çağrısıdır. Tarım, ekonomiyi, kültürü, enerjiyi, güvenliği, diplomasiyi ve bilinci birbirine bağlayan canlı bir ekosistemdir.

Bugün hâlâ aynı inançla çalışıyorum.

Türkiye’de ve dünyada tarımı yeniden tanımlamak, üretimi bilgelikle buluşturmak için... “Önce pazar, sonra üretim” anlayışıyla çiftçiye yeni bir kalkınma modeli sunmaya, sürdürülebilir tarım, gıda güvenliği, profesyonel kooperatifleşme ve tarımsal inovasyon alanlarında katkı vermeye devam ediyorum.

Daha yapacak çok şey var.

Bugüne kadar 8 kitap, 300’ün üzerinde makale ve çok sayıda köşe yazısıyla tarımı yalnızca anlatmaya değil, bir düşünceye, bir bilince, bir gelecek vizyonuna dönüştürmeye çalıştım. Çünkü inanıyorum ki, tarımın kurtuluşu, insanlığın da kurtuluşudur. Benimki şimdi gelecek için toprağa bir tohum ekmektir.

Ayrıca, bir proje uzmanı olarak, farklı üniversitelerde gençlerle bir araya gelerek “proje yönetimi ve proje kafası” üzerine eğitimler veriyorum. Gençlere hayal kurmayı, hayallerini kâğıda dökmeyi ve o hayalleri gerçeğe dönüştürmeyi anlatmaya çalışıyorum. Çünkü biliyorum ki, hayali olmayanın hedefi olmaz, hedefi olmayanın da yönü olmaz. İnsan, ancak hayal ettikçe gelişir, ürettikçe var olur.

Ve bütün bu süreçlerde, bana inanan, bu yolu benimle birlikte yürüyen, her projede emek veren, düşünen, paylaşan, tüm yol arkadaşlarıma, ekip arkadaşlarıma, dostlarıma ve gönüllülere gönülden teşekkür ederim. Bu başarılar, yalnızca benim değil, hepimizin ortak emeğinin, alın terinin ve inancının eseridir.

Ve yapacak çok şey var... Daha yolun başındayız.

Benim için tarım bir meslek değil, yaşamın özüdür.

Çünkü toprağa değer veren toplumlar, geleceğe yön veren medeniyetler kurar.

“Topraktan doğan bir medeniyet yeniden filizleniyor.”

1. Başlangıç: Köklerden Gelen Felsefe

Benim yolum, Anadolu’nun bereketli topraklarında, çiftçi bir ailenin emeğinden doğdu. Toprağı ilk kez ellerimle kazdığımda, onun sadece ekmek değil, varoluşun hafızası olduğunu anladım. O gün bugündür tarımı, bir meslek değil, medeniyetin omurgası olarak görüyorum. Çünkü insan toprağı ektiğinde yalnızca ürün değil, geleceğin bilincini de eker. Bu bilinçle çıktığım yolda, hedefim alın terinin onurunu koruyan, bilginin ve teknolojinin rehberliğinde ilerleyen bir tarım düzeni kurmaktır.

2. TARIMKON: Bir Hareketin Kurumsallaşması

Bugün Uluslararası Tarım ve Gıda Konfederasyonu (TARIMKON); 81 il, 640 ilçe, 55 ülke temsilciliğiyle milyonlarca üreticinin sesi hâline geldi. Bu yapı sadece bir sivil toplum örgütü değil, tarımsal aklın diplomasiye dönüşmüş hâlidir.

Biz üreticiyle tüketici arasına köprü kurarken, pazarla üretimi, bilimle emeği, yerelle küreseli bir araya getirdik. TARIMKON, toprakla insan arasında yeniden güven tesis eden bir medeniyet hareketidir. Her adımda Türkiye’yi, tarımsal diplomasi, gıda güvenliği ve üretim stratejileri açısından dünyanın referans noktalarından biri hâline getirmeyi amaçlıyoruz.

3. Dönüştürücü Adımlarım

Proje Vadisi Platformu ile gençlerin hayal gücünü üretime dönüştürdük, düşünebilen, planlayabilen, çözüm üretebilen bir kuşak yetiştiriyoruz.
Protein Vadileri, Enerjisel Gıda, Tarım 9.0, Agroteknokent ve Tarım–Gıda Silikon Vadisi projeleriyle, geleceğin ekonomik altyapısını kuruyoruz.
İhtisaslaşmış genç üretim ve pazarlama kooperatifleriyle kırsalda üretim bilincini yeniden yeşertiyoruz.
Üniversiteler, odalar, kalkınma ajansları ve uluslararası ortaklarla bilimsel, teknolojik ve sosyal dönüşüm projeleri geliştiriyoruz.
Kendi Kendine Yetebilen Şehirler Modeli ile yerel üretim ve yerel tüketim arasında sürdürülebilir bir denge kuruyoruz.
Bütün bu adımların özünde tek bir amaç var: Türkiye’yi bilgi temelli, adil ve dayanışmacı bir üretim ekosistemine dönüştürmek.

4. İlkelerim

Toprak kutsaldır; korumak, geleceğe sadakat borcudur.
Üretim onurdur; alın teri, bir ülkenin namusudur.
Bilgi, yeni tohumdur; paylaşılmazsa bereket vermez.
Kadın üretirse toplum direnir.
Gençlik, tarımın geleceğidir.
Tarıma yatırım, geleceğe yatırımdır.
Gıda adaleti, barışın temelidir.

5. UFUK 2050: TÜRKİYE’NİN GIDA DİPLOMASİSİ VİZYONU

2050’ye giderken amacım, Türkiye’yi yalnızca bir üretim ülkesi değil, küresel bir gıda diplomasisi gücü hâline getirmektir. Bu vizyon; bilim, üretim, eğitim, teknoloji ve vicdanın aynı potada birleştiği yeni bir kalkınma modeline dayanır.

Her şehir, üretimin bir laboratuvarı,
her üniversite, tarımın fikir atölyesi,
her genç, bir projeci,
her üretici, bir medeniyet elçisi olacaktır.

Türkiye, topraktan masaya uzanan adil, şeffaf ve izlenebilir bir gıda sistemiyle hem kendi halkının güvenliğini sağlayacak hem de dünyanın beslenme geleceğine yön verecektir.
Bu sistemin adı: Türk Tarım Modeli.

Bölgesel lojistik merkezleri, dijital takip ağları, biyoteknoloji yatırımları ve enerji entegrasyonlarıyla Türkiye, gıdanın sadece üreticisi değil, etik, sürdürülebilir ve yenilikçi yönetim modelinin de öncüsü olacaktır. Benim yolum, tarımı yeniden tanımlamak değil, onu hak ettiği yere insanlığın merkezine taşımaktır.

Çünkü toprağı anlayan toplum, geleceğe hükmeden toplumdur.

ÖNCE PAZAR, SONRA ÜRETİM

Ne üreteceğini değil, kime üreteceğini bilmeyen toplumlar stok değil, kriz üretir.

Klasik kalkınma anlayışı, üretimi başa koyar. Oysa bugünün dünyasında artık pazar, üretimin yönünü belirliyor. Talep haritasını bilmeden üretim yapmak, pusulasız yola çıkmaktır. Raflar dolu olabilir, ama alıcı yoksa bereket, israfa dönüşür. “Önce pazar, sonra üretim” yaklaşımı, üretimin rastgele değil, stratejik yapılması gerektiğini anlatır.

Gıda, tarım ve sanayide rekabet artık miktarda değil, pazar zekâsında kazanılıyor. Hangi ülke, hangi ürünle, hangi mevsimde neye ihtiyaç duyuyor? Tüketici davranışı hangi yönde değişiyor? Veriyi okumadan tohum atmak, geleceği şansa bırakmaktır. Bugünün üreticisi sadece çiftçi değil; aynı zamanda veri analisti, stratejist ve vizyonerdir. Çünkü küresel pazar artık toprağın değil, bilginin haritasına göre işliyor.

Türkiye’nin tarımsal dönüşümünün anahtarı da burada yatıyor. Önce hedef pazar belirlenmeli, ardından bu pazarın talebine uygun çeşit, kalite ve işleme altyapısı kurulmalı. “Önce hedef pazar belirlenmeli, ardından bu pazarın talep yapısına uygun ürün çeşitliliği, kalite standardı ve işleme altyapısı inşa edilmelidir. Türkiye’nin üretim gücü artık rastgele değil, küresel talep istihbaratına göre konumlanmalıdır. Orta Doğu’nun iklimine dayanıklı sebze, Avrupa’nın gıda güvenliği normlarına uygun meyve, Asya’nın artan protein ihtiyacına yanıt veren bakliyat… Üretim planı pazarın ritmine göre tasarlanırsa, çiftçi artık ürünü değil, geleceği satar.”

Artık üretim bir son değil, pazar için bir araçtır. “Ne üretelim?” sorusu, yerini “Kimin için üretelim?” sorusuna bırakmak zorunda. Çünkü gelecek, pazar odaklı üretimi yöneten ulusların olacak. Toprağın gücü artık sadece verimde değil, vizyondadır.

"Agriculture is everything. Because production is a nation's most silent yet most powerful manifesto."

I was born in a small village near Ankara, into a family of farmers. From a young age, I learned the scent of soil, the meaning of labor, and the value of abundance. Perhaps without realizing it then, I placed production at the center of my life. To this day, I firmly believe that agriculture is not merely a form of production but a way of civilization.

After completing my education, I began my professional career behind the camera in an agricultural program at TRT. Listening to the stories of producers during those years, I felt that merely telling their stories was not enough, I wanted to help change them and contribute to rethinking agriculture.

This search took me to METU Technopark, where I worked on engineering projects, and then to agricultural irrigation cooperatives across Türkiye. In the field, I witnessed firsthand that a country unable to manage its agricultural production and water resources cannot manage its future. With that awareness, I took part in numerous projects focused on water management, renewable energy, smart agriculture, and production systems.

When I was elected President of the Agriculture Federation in 2009, I knew agriculture needed a new perspective. For me, the foundation of agricultural development was to establish the market before production, because what empowers the farmer is not only the product but its proper valuation. Based on this idea, we embraced the principle of “market first, then production.” Our goal was to transform the farmer’s labor into value, value into brand, and brand into a sustainable system. Along the way, we founded Anatolian Trade and Logistics Centers, established Farmer Training Hubs in Africa, organized producer workshops, and collaborated with municipalities on rural development projects, all to reposition agriculture as not just an economic activity but a social and strategic system.

In 2012, we founded the International Agriculture and Food Confederation (TARIMKON), which today operates in 81 provinces, 650 districts, and 60 countries, becoming one of the largest networks in its field. Within this vast structure, hundreds of NGOs and millions of producers unite around a shared mission: fair, sustainable, and conscious production beyond language, religion, or race.

Our work has never been limited to production alone; we’ve also taken responsibility in agricultural diplomacy, food security, and green economy. Because agriculture today must exist not only in the field but also at the diplomatic table, in energy strategy, and in societal awareness.

In 2017, I had the honor of becoming the first Turkish member of the European Economic Senate. This role reminded me once again that agriculture is no longer a local concern but a global responsibility.

In 2022, after eight years of work, we established Nigeria’s first Continuous Farmer Training Center. The love and recognition I received there earned me the honorary title of “Chef,” meaning King. Yet what mattered most to me was the chance to touch a nation’s future through the dignity of labor.

Agriculture is universal.

For me, it is not only my country’s issue but humanity’s shared cause. A production crisis in one nation will inevitably affect others. It’s not enough for one to prosper; when global production weakens, everyone loses. That is why, beginning in Anatolia, we built a structure that reaches farmers, producers, and soils across continents. Today, TARIMKON stands as a voice for producers and a network of solidarity across the world—because I believe agricultural production is not merely a state’s duty but a collective human responsibility.

“Agriculture is not a sector it is a system.”

To me, agriculture is not the foundation of the economy but the foundation of life itself. When a seed sprouts, it’s not just a plant growing, it’s the future of a society taking root. Thus, the phrase “Agriculture Is Everything” is not a slogan, but a call to awareness. Agriculture connects the economy, culture, energy, security, diplomacy, and consciousness into one living ecosystem.

And I still work with the same conviction to redefine agriculture and unite production with wisdom, to offer farmers a new development model based on the principle of “market first, then production,” and to contribute to sustainable farming, food security, professional cooperativism, and agricultural innovation both in Türkiye and globally.

There is still much to do.

To date, I have written eight books, over 300 articles, and numerous essays, striving not only to describe agriculture but to transform it into a thought, a consciousness, and a vision for the future. Because I believe that the salvation of agriculture is the salvation of humanity. My journey is simply about planting a seed today for the future to grow.

As a project management expert, I also meet with students at various universities, delivering lectures on “project mindset and management.” I try to help young people dream, put those dreams on paper, and turn them into reality because I believe that without dreams, there are no goals; without goals, there is no direction. Humanity evolves only when it imagines and endures only when it produces.

Through every step of this journey, I am deeply grateful to those who have believed in me my colleagues, partners, volunteers, and friends. Every success we’ve achieved is the outcome of our shared effort, perseverance, and conviction.

There is still much ahead this is only the beginning.

For me, agriculture is not a profession it is the essence of life.

Because societies that value their soil are the ones that build the civilizations of the future.

1. The Beginning: Philosophy Rooted in the Soil

My journey began in the fertile lands of Anatolia, born from the labor of a farming family.
The first time I dug into the soil with my bare hands, I realized it was not just the source of bread, but the memory of existence itself.

Since that day, I have seen agriculture not as an occupation, but as the backbone of civilization.
Because when humanity sows the soil, it plants not only crops but the consciousness of the future. With this awareness, my mission has been to build an agricultural order that protects the dignity of labor and advances with the guidance of knowledge and technology.

2. TARIMKON: The Institutionalization of a Movement

Today, the International Agriculture and Food Confederation (TARIMKON) has become the voice of millions of producers across 81 provinces, 640 districts, and 55 countries.
This organization is not merely an NGO; it is agricultural intelligence transformed into diplomacy. We have built bridges between producers and consumers, between markets and production, between science and labor, between local and global.

TARIMKON is a civilizational movement restoring trust between people and the land.
With every step, we aim to make Türkiye one of the world’s reference points in agricultural diplomacy, food security, and production strategy.

3. Transformative Actions

• Through the Project Valley Platform, we are turning the imagination of youth into production raising a generation that can think, plan, and solve.
• With initiatives like Protein Valleys, Energetic Food, Agriculture 9.0, Agrotechnocity, and the Agri-Food Silicon Valley, we are building the economic infrastructure of the future.
• By establishing specialized youth production and marketing cooperatives, we are reviving the consciousness of production in rural areas.
• Together with universities, chambers, development agencies, and international partners, we are creating scientific, technological, and social transformation projects.
• The Self-Sufficient Cities Model is establishing a sustainable balance between local production and local consumption.
All these efforts serve one goal: transforming Türkiye into a knowledge-based, fair, and cooperative production ecosystem.

4. My Principles

• The soil is sacred; protecting it is a duty of loyalty to the future.
• Production is honor; the sweat of labor is the nation’s dignity.
• Knowledge is the new seed; if not shared, it bears no fruit.
• When women produce, society endures.
• Youth are the future of agriculture.
• Investing in agriculture is investing in the future.
• Food justice is the foundation of peace.

5. HORIZON 2050: TÜRKİYE’S FOOD DIPLOMACY VISION

By 2050, my goal is for Türkiye to become not only a nation of production but a global power in food diplomacy. This vision is built upon a new model of development where science, production, education, technology, and conscience merge into one.

Every city will be a laboratory of production, every university a workshop of agricultural ideas,
every young person a project creator and every producer an ambassador of civilization.

Through a fair, transparent, and traceable food system, Türkiye will secure its own food sovereignty while guiding the world’s nutritional future. This system has a name: The Turkish Agricultural Model.

With regional logistics centers, digital tracking networks, biotechnology investments, and energy integration, Türkiye will not only be a producer of food but also a pioneer of an ethical, sustainable, and innovative management model.

My path is not to redefine agriculture but to restore it to its rightful place the heart of humanity.

Because a nation that understands its soil, commands its future.
